As a former Oceanside Police Officer, law enforcement executive and member of the Oceanside City Council, I have spent my career working to make Oceanside as safe and enjoyable as possible. By 2020 we had reduced violent gang crime by 60% since 2010 and brought other crime levels to the lowest rate in decades. For the first time in decades, violent crime has risen dramatically in cities across the country. In California the unattended consequences of statewide legislation and ballot propositions (Props 47 and Prop 57) have greatly reduced penalties for criminal behavior and have led to some of the most concerning crime trends in recent memory.

I will continue to fight to hold criminals accountable, I will push back against dangerous statewide legislation, I will fully fund our police department. Our residents deserve to enjoy our City and should never feel afraid to walk our streets.
